Meditative Practice on the Shema
Meditative Practice on the Shema: stop, breathe, reflect.
Shema Israel
Listen, people of Israel.
We are a people who seek and struggle. These words are not directed to you alone; they are directed to an entire society—an interconnected community that holds values of tradition, history, and lineage. These words are for you, but you are not isolated in needing to hear them. The divine guidance is already all around us, and the call to listen is an invitation to open ourselves to the truths that are waiting for us to recognize. If God is omnipresent, then the answers are already here, just waiting for us to hear them. Be open to listen.
Adonai Eloheinu
Adonai is our God.
There is a divine tether that connects us, a grounding presence that ties us to faith and offers inspiration in a world where we often feel untethered. Naming this tether is essential, for it reminds us that we are never without connection, even in moments of uncertainty. This tether, this divine presence, is what sustains us and helps us navigate the unknown.
Adonai Ehad
We are ONE.
One people, with one mission—to live life with authenticity and love. The struggles we face are not isolating; they are unifying. Each challenge we weather together strengthens us as a community. Life’s difficulties bind us, and through them, we find our shared humanity. The words of the Shema remind us that, despite our individual journeys, we are united in purpose and faith, and it is this unity that empowers us to face what lies ahead with courage and love.
